Hello Roses,

First of all Happy Valentines Day to you all! May you be celebrating with your loved ones whoever, wherever they are, and for those of you who don’t celebrate Happy Hump Day and Chocolate is almost 50% off Day! Both very exciting in their own ways.

Today’s topic may be a bit late coming for some of you, but due to website maintenance (I mean have you checked out how gorgeous our home screen is <inse

rt heart eyes emoji X3>) we had to delay our blogs by a bit, but no worries, our topics today can be used for today, tomorrow, and everyday.

So now let me set the scene for you: It’s 6:00PM, you’re at home sitting on the couch, and it’s Valentine’s Day today. You want to do something but you never really planned anything. So what do you do when you literally have an hour or so?

Throw a party! At this point you’re probably thinking WTF, it’s like 6:15PM and you want me to throw a party now?

My answer to this is yes, yes I want you to throw a party! You see Valentine’s Day is not meant merely for people in romantic relationships, you can celebrate with fri

ends (yes I know there’s Galentine’s Day for that, in fact we even did an event for that, but still), family, co-workers, team members, even your pets! Valentine’s Day is a day meant to celebrate love in all its forms, so why shouldn’t you get in on it?

Let me take you through this step-by-step, I swear this will literally take you 30-40 minutes in total and the end result= a night well spent in the company of those you love! These steps of course work for those as well who are planning a Valentine’s Day party a week or so in advance!

Step 1:

You’ve made the decision so don’t back off now. Send out a mass message via text/facebook/instagram/whatever you use, and see who is available. Also make sure you decide if it’s strictly ladies only, guys only, people only?

You’ll probably be surprised by how many responses you get. Trust me as much as this holiday is shoved into our faces by big corporations looking to make money off of us, and people who have all these amazing social media posts regarding their plans, a lot more don’t have those plans, and don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Even if you get just one response, it’s a party for two boo, and if you get no responses well then it’s a party for one hun (do you guys like the rhyming? I thought it was pretty cute if I do say so myself...just kidding I kinda want to barf reading those over). Basically keep a track of how many responses you get in a 10-minute span that’ll help you figure out how much of everything to get.

You’ll probably get a lot of responses about 15-20 minutes after you sent

the message. So don’t let yourself get disheartened no matter the response.

Step 2:

Once the message is sent decide what kind of party you want this to be: will it be classy? Pj’s please? Comfy? Will it be more wine and dine, beer and nachos, or a classic margarita night? Decide these things and then send out another message letting people know if they have to get dressed up, wear only Valentine’s colours, or if they can just wear pj’s/sweats. Thinking about the purpose of your party really helps with making these decisions; like is this party just to hang out with friends or just so you’re not on your own on a holiday that makes it seem like being alone is the worst thing in the world (trust me it’s not <3)

Step 3:

It may seem like it’s been an hour, but it’s only been about 10-minutes. Relax, take a breath, grab your wallet and keys and head out the door. It’s time to go shopping. Your first stop should be a Dollar Store of sorts. From here you’re just going to grab a couple of things for decor, you won’t be spending anymore than $10-$15.

I would suggest getting a couple of helium balloons that can drop down from your kitchen/living room ceiling, and getting a couple of Valentines Day weights and streamers. These will all be in the Valentines Day decor section of your local Dollar Store. These are of course

suggestions, the choice is up to you-just remember not to spend anymore than 20-minutes here.

Step 4:

Onto your next stop the grocery store! From here just grab a couple of appies and drinks. You can ask people to bring some food as well or you can all pitch in for take-out later in the evening. It’s good to have a couple of different appies based off of the kind party you’re hosting and some sweet Valentine treats you can find usually in the bakery aisle of your local grocery store.

Grab some non-alcoholic drinks just in case (after all tomorrow is a work/school day). If wine is available at your local store maybe grab a bottle if you don’t already have one, and if it goes with the theme you’re creating.

Spend no more than about $50-$60 here.

Step 5:

Next and final stop of the evening if you choose to...the Liquor Store. From here grab whatever alcohol you feel fits the feel of your party most. You can also make it a BYOB party and only supply a couple of drinks!

Your choice for how much you are willing to spend here.

Step 6:

Now you’re back home so set-up time! Place the decorations how you want to, Dollar Store decor is fairly easy to set-up so it shoudn’t take too much time. Plac

e the appetizers and drinks out. Then if you want/need to change and get ready for guest arrivals.

Bonus Step:

Just to enhance the party a bit more you can Pinterest some fun little party ga

mes for you and your guest(s) to enjoy throughout the party. Screenshot the instructions and bring them up when you feel it’s game time!

Here you have it! A Valentines Day party in about an hour. Hope this helps you celebrate this day and have an amazing time with your loved ones! If you or anyone you know followed these steps make sure you take pictures and tag it with #rebelroses and we’ll feature you on our pages!
